You Can Help Yourself, But Don't Take Too Much

Them that's got shall get
Them that's not shall lose
So the Bible said and it still is news
Mama may have, Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own...

Yes, the strong gets more
While the weak ones fade
Empty pockets don't ever make the grade...

Money, you've got lots of friends
Crowding round the door
When you're gone, spending ends
They don't come no more

Rich relations give
Crust of bread and such
You can help yourself
But don't take too much

Mama may have,
Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own...
He just worry 'bout nothin'
Cause he's got his own

Having grown up in the fifties, it seems to me that those were the best of times in this country. The taxes were higher:
1953 – $20,000 38% over $200,000 92%
they are lower now now:
2010 – $20,000 15% over $200,000 33%
..since then the rich have gotten much richer, and the teaparty festers over taxes and 'return to the good ol days'. Go figure..

Yep, those were the days weren't they. Truman and Ike had to pay, upfront as it were, for WWII and Korea, so nobody bitched. Oh wait, when did the John Birch Society come into existance? Aren't they back again?
Maybe we can bring back the good old days, and the 92% tax too.
